My poem “Magpie” live on Paul Perry’s blog

Posted on May 18, 2009 at 5:31 pm in poetry

This poem was inspired by my move to Ireland. It’s been a few months in construction and started with a taxi ride from the airport to a temporary company flat. Seeing a magpie made things feels settled and homely in this new country – made me remember my father’s wisdom. I’m honoured to have my poem accepted by award winning poet Paul Perry. Read Magpie by Elizabeth Rose Murray over on Paul Perry’s blog. Also read 3 poems by Paul Perry on Dogmatika.

that poem is quite heart-rending. had I not known you, I would have said the poet was Irish. It has that feel and the colours of Ireland. I love the connection to your father. Do you remember the kids programme “Magpie”? That’s a gorgeous pic of you in your black and white Magpie outfit. Love, Debs xx
